Retiral Funds
The Employee Retiral / Pension Funds especially in India are nothing
but Retirement Benefit Schemes which
comprise of the following Sections:
Employee Provident Fund Schemes: The Un-Exempted Provident Fund Scheme & Exempted Provident Fund Trust Scheme are
Statutory requirements under the provisions of The Employee Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act,
1952 and since 16th November 1995 they have been mandated to include specified
Pension Benefits under the specific provisions of The Employees Pension Scheme, 1995.
The Employee Provident Fund
benefit provided through an ‘Excluded’ Provident Fund Trust is created
and recognized under Part A of the Fourth Schedule of The Income Tax Act, 1961 These ‘Excluded’ Trusts fallout
from the legal provisions of The Employee
Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 and as such these
trusts are not accountable to the Office of the PF Commissioner and their activities are unenforceable under
the 1952 Act. This PF benefit is not mandatory.
Employees Gratuity Benefits are payable under the provisions of The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972.
Provision of separate and additional Retiral Benefit through Pension
Payments, vide a SUPERANNUATION TRUST FUND, created and approved under Part B
of The Fourth Schedule of The Income Tax Act, 1961. This benefit is not
mandatory and its provision is company dependent.

Security in the form of Life Insurance to the family of the deceased member of a

Gratuity Fund
Gratuity Funds were devised into a scheme
to motivate or lure employees to serve an employer for a longer duration in the
same company. For any employee who has served a company for more than 5 years will
be eligible for Gratuity. In this respect a portion of the last drawn salary
would be multiplied into the number of years of service and paid to the
employee once he/she leaves the organization.

Fund
Superannuation benefits are given to the employee during the
retirement from the company, In such an arrangement the company is usually
linked to agencies like LIC to which the contributions are made. In this setup
the company pays a 15% of basic wages as a contribution to Superannuation and
the interest obtained from this contribution is credited to the members
account.

Employees state Insurance was created to
provide social and economical protection to the working population and the
dependants of the family that is covered under the scheme. As part of this
scheme full medical care is provided to the Self and his/her dependants. Various
cash benefits are also entitled towards the member of this scheme during
various physical ailments.
